PLEASE READ. YOUR SIGNATURE SIGNIFIES YOUR ACCEPTANCE. Non-professional glass artisans are invited to enter the Glastar Art Glass Competition - recognizing creativity in art glass using Glastar equipment. Any type of cold-glass creation may be entered, including (but not limited to) leaded, foiled, mosaic, beveled, carved or etched. Your entry may be of original or published designs. Non-professional artisan is defined as an artisan who derives less than 50% of their yearly gross income from art glass work.
TO ENTER: Complete an official entry form (photocopies are acceptable). Entry forms are only available at participating art glass retailers. Entry form must contain the name and address of the sponsoring retailer and a list of Glastar equipment used to create the project. Any Glastar equipment used qualifies your entry - from our Grinders to Cabinets to our Soldering Iron Tip Cleaner. Local participating retailers may be found on-line at www.glastar.com, call (800) 423-5635 or fax your request to (818) 998-2078.
The entry form must be completed in English and legibly hand-printed or typed. The completed entry form must be accompanied by an 8" x 10" color photograph of your submission. Include your name and address on the back of the photo. Your art glass entry will be judged from this 8" x 10" photo, so make it the best quality. (Smaller photographs are not acceptable for judging.)
We want to see all the art you create with Glastar products. You may enter one project per category, every month. Each entry must be accompanied by a separate completed entry form and 8" x 10" photograph. DISQUALIFICATION: Your entry is automatically disqualified if it: has previously been entered in this or any other contest; was published previously or sold for publication or profit; has won previous awards or, in any way, infringes on any third party rights. Further, illegible, incomplete or indiscernible entries or submissions that do not fully comply with all requirements set forth herein are disqualified.
JUDGING CRITERIA: Qualified judges are selected at the discretion of Glastar Corporation. Entries are judged on originality, creativity, glass selection, technical excellence and complexity of design. A winner in each category (3D, Panel, Mosaic, Sandblast/Bevel) is selected every month. The winner of the monthly prize in each category is eligible for the Grand Prize or First Prize and Second Prize in their category. All decisions of the judges are final and binding in all respects. By participating, entrants agree to abide by and be bound by the Official Rules, and further agree not to contest the decisions of the judges. It is the entrant's sole responsibility to insure that his/her entry complies with the Official Rules. The awarding of a prize is contingent upon full compliance with the Official Rules.
DEADLINES: The Glastar Art Glass Competition is based on the calendar year (Jan.1 Dec. 31). Entries received by the last day of each calendar month will be entered in that month's judging. The annual award of Grand, First and Second Prizes are announced Feb. 14 of the following year.
PRIZES: Grand Prize (1) Selected from all monthly category winners for the calendar year. Winner receives $1,000 cash, one Glastar All-Star™ Grinder and the GLASS®STAR Award. First Prize (4) One winner in each of four categories receives $300.00 cash and the GLASS®STAR Award. Second Prize (4) One winner in each of four categories receives a $100 coupon for Glastar products (redeemable at sponsoring retailers). Monthly prizes (48) One winner in each of four categories receives a $25.00 coupon for Glastar products (redeemable at sponsoring retailers) and is made eligible for Grand, First or Second Prize. Value of all prizes estimated at $4,000. All prize-winning entrants will be notified by mail. Winners are responsible for all applicable taxes on prizes as determined by applicable tax laws and regulations.
INELIGIBILITY: (A) Persons who from and after June 1, 1999 were or are employees or agents of Glastar Corporation, its affiliates, subsidiaries, service agencies including, but not limited to, its advertising and promotion agencies or independent contractors may not enter. (B) Persons who are immediate family members of, or reside in the same household as any person in the preceding category may not enter. Void where prohibited by law.
CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION: Neither Glastar nor any of its agencies or participating dealers is responsible for any late, lost, damaged, misdirected, destroyed, illegible, incomplete, indiscernible, postage due or mutilated mail or entries. Entry forms and photographs submitted become the sole properties of Glastar and will not be returned.
Grand, First and Second place winning entrants must provide, within 14 days of notification, a signed Affidavit of Eligibility, a Publicity/Liability Release and any other documentation as determined by Glastar or law. Failure to comply with any requirement, or if prize is unclaimed or returned as undeliverable, may result in forfeiture of the prize with the next highest ranked entrant receiving the prize. Prizes may not be transferred or substituted.
By accepting prize, winner releases Glastar Corporation, Right Brain Creative Services, Promotion Design Group, their respective parent companies, affiliates and subsidiaries, directors, officers, agents and employees, from any and all liability with respect to: participation in the Contest; prize acceptance; possession; use or misuse; and from participation in any prize related activities. By accepting prize, winner further agrees to the use of his/her own name, hometown, likeness, and any statements made by him/her regarding the contest or in the official entry form for advertising and publicity purposes and grants to Glastar Corporation any and all rights to said use without further compensation or consideration except where prohibited. Acceptance of a prize grants Glastar Corporation and its agents the right to publish, use, edit, adapt and/or modify the photograph of the prize winning entry in any way, in commerce or in any and all media without limitation for any and all purposes including but not limited to use on the Internet, Glastar Corporation packaging and advertisements without additional compensation.
